Additional Information

I'm not (yet) familiar enough with the Silmarillion to give an in-depth beta-read about its characters, events, ages, and themes, but that might change once I have the time to do a thorough reading of the book. Likewise the strengths/weaknesses listed are a guestimation at the moment - feel free to ask, though my DNWed warnings are the least negotiable.

Strong science background and a reasonable hand at constructing languages, I have several years of multi-fandom beta-reading and writing experience to leverage, so settings changes take well, as do canon divergences and applying tropes to canons.

Query turnaround time is typically 24-36 hours to accommodate for IRL, and I typically do three rounds of beta-reading to make sure any questions are answered and that issues are satisfactorily resolved - please let me know what you'd like to focus on, and general wordcount range, as that will affect time spent on my end.

Reminders to Authors:

  • Read the beta's full profile before contacting them. Respect any limits they state about what they're willing to beta. Likewise, if a beta notes that their "Prefer Not to Beta" list is not a rigid set of limitations, feel free to reach out.
  • A beta's inclusion in the directory does not mean that they are necessarily available to beta for you at this time. When contacting a beta, remember that your message is a query about their availability.
  • It is helpful to include some information about the piece you need beta'ed. What is it about? What kind of help are you looking for? How long is it? When will you need it finished?
  • We recommend betas and their authors having clear conversations before beginning about the expectations of both parties. SWG moderators will not "referee" communications (including conflicts) between betas and authors.
