Chapter 1
Read Chapter 1
This night my heart with fear was strangled
And why that was I don’t know.
He’ll to go fight, my love, the Valiant -
It was decided long ago.
I know his friend is true and faithful,
And so much this friendship means.
The crying Queen would be disgraceful
So I must never be in tears.
The crying Queen would make people mourn,
And they’ll all cry - what shall I do?
The scarlet dawn, this dreadful morning.
Go now, my love. I’ll wait for you.

I love the way this flows, and there are some very striking images and insights in your poem - being the High Queen of the Noldor can't be easy, and especially not in a time of war, as most of Fingon's reign was... so her trying to put up a brave face in front of her people was a very touching moment (and more so knowing that he won't return this time).
And on top of all of that, here's one of the invisible characters of the legendarium being formidable in her own right, which would be enough to make me love this to pieces in any circumstance.

Oh thank you!
Indeed, she is "an invisible characher", this is a very true definition! But she was there...

Torn between putting up a brave face of the queen and fear... I would never envy her.
You brought to life an actual 'no one' to life in so few words and so gracefully put together. And that, I envy :)
