I thought it was a fun idea, but then again, I wrote this in the middle of the night.

Mushrooms in the dark
I used the random tarot card generate and got the Wheel of Fortune, which luckily enough immediately sparked an idea.
So have some Beren finding an unexpected good luck charm.

Lúthien had long lost track of the days they spent erring through the darkness, not knowing the way, yet drawing closer to their goal with every step.
But even disguised as they were, flying across desolated lands, they had to rest at times, and it was then that they stumbled across the curious find.
It was a mushroom, white-stemmed, its red cap flecked with pale dots, and Beren cried with delight when he spotted it.
“Oh, what a blessed sight to find in empty lands! Long has it been since I last saw one of you! ‘tis a sign of good fortune, to be sure!”

Even if fly amanitas are perhaps not a universal good luck charm, why should they not be for Beren and his people?
I like the idea of that mushroom cheering him up in the gloom!
