Wow, that was harrowing, and very gripping. I felt every step she gave. The lack of pity of the Valar comes across loud and clear - I think I have already mentioned to you that I fully subsvribe to the view that the buck stopped with them, and did not go further to Eru. Great story, you've packed a lot in not that many words.

 

Somehow I missed that about the Meneltarma being a volcano - well, I read it, but focussed on the great wave and somehow missed the impact of an exploding volcano, and the fact of the queen not just climbing any mountain but an exploding one. Of course she didn't make it...Poor Zimraphel. I like the idea of it being only the Valar, not Eru, which would make it some higher purpose - whereas this is easily interpreted as angry, vengeful Valar, not a necesarry thing.
