This is a stunning and heartbreaking piece. Faramir seeks answers from Gandalf and Aragorn. In the blackened ruins of the Rath Dínen, both he and Aragorn feel the sadness of Denethor's passing and the horror of it, particularly as it still resonates in the Palantir of Minas Anor (which will likely always show only flames and the hands of the former Steward of Gondor). But as Thorongil, Aragorn also knew Denethor as a younger man, his wife Finduilas of Dol Amroth and baby Boromir. And he was with Boromir during his last moments. At the top of the tower of Ecthelion, he sings his part of the lament when they had sent Boromir and elven boat to the falls of Rauros, and Faramir sings a new verse. The singing lifts hearts in Minas Tirith. ❤️
