Tolkien Meta Week Starts December 8!
Join us December 8-14, here and on Tumblr, as we share our thoughts, musings, rants, and headcanons about all aspects of Tolkien's world.
A really short poem about Aredhel's time in Nan Elmoth.
I imagine this pretty much ending just before she meets Eöl for the first time. Maybe I'll get something written for that at one point, too.
It's a fill for ungwë (spider web), though this is a rather metaphorical spider web.
How strange these woods, how dark and cold.
So unlike those I walked in days of old.
No hound or horse are at my side
And if another thing lives here,
in shadows do they hide.
But there! A path! Oh, could it be?
At last a way out of the dark?
Birdsong rings now in my ears,
Dawn’s chorus, oh beloved lark!
I fought hard to get that lark rhyme in there XD I thought it was a nice twist, since dawn is often associated with hope, but in this case everything is about to go very wrong for Aredhel.
