I don't know if this is quite the same Miriel I usually write, but I do usually imagine that being watched and constrained ever since she was a child would have had an effect on her (she grew up in the reign of Ar-Gimilzor, after all).

Yes, I meant to imply that Astarien survives, though she might not leave Miriel willingly.
