Wonderful fic, Tehta.  Enjoyed your characterization of Salgant, who is in the best trickster tradition here,and the bit of humor amidst the terrible tragedy. 

Written as though from the Perilous Realm itself, great fun!  I have been looking at Salgant myself and even wrote and disgarded a 1970s style bawdy scene of high camp for him; yours though is far better than that and I hope that you write more...

Oh this was wonderful, hah! I've always had trouble imagining Salgant, probably because it took me so long to get to reading Lost Tales - and by then I had gotten too used by far to the idea of lean, heroic elves - not slightly chubby ones who might not even switch sides without first becoming an orc. I still can't picture any other elf like that. But you did somehow make me picture Salgant quite vividly, haha...

This is the most lovely gap-filler one could ever ask for The Fall of Gondolin. It has a very pleasant levity and humor about it, despite the dark setting, it is written in a lucid, concise style, and the idea of Salgant playing the harp as the city burns sounds very right somehow. Well done!
