Summary:
I wanted this to be sharper and to explain Isildur's feelings towards the elves with greater clarity. So I refined this a bit more. This is what I came up with.
What thoughts are passing through Isildur’s mind after his defeat of Sauron? A bit of gallows humor in response to the prompt “lend”.

Title: Lending a Hand
Lending a Hand
The Elven Lords approach me cautiously. A momentary hatred towards them surges through me. Elves can pass through Mandos and someday rejoin their loved ones. but my father’s body lies broken nearby and we will never embrace again. I clutch the hilt of Narsil tightly in one hand and Sauron’s golden ring in the other.
I weep, unable to stop my tears. We have vanquished the enemy, yet I feel no triumph. The elves speak softly to me but I don’t hear their words. “I asked Sauron to lend me a hand,” I croak, and I laugh through my tears.
