This is such a happy ficlet! I could feel those scratches! I also like how it mingles vibes of both Roverandom and Lud-in-the-Mist (with faery roast rather than fruit!).

And "as lovely and old and young as springtime" is just perfect! I've never thought of it, but it really is so fresh and yet as old as time!

Thank you! I confess I have not actually read Lud-in-the-Mist--I'm pretty sure I meant for this to be a crossover with Smith of Wootton-Major!--but I'm glad I got the right vibes!

(I am also pretty certain I lifted the old and young as springtime phrase from a description of Goldberry, along with the Elf Faery Queen clad in living flowers, which is my favorite image and one I use whenever I can manage it.)
