A storm to break the world
Read A storm to break the world
The seas heave and boil,
never before
have I seen winds as these,
as if tearing existence apart.
I wonder if we shall see land,
if there is land to find,
or have the sins of my people
doomed the world.
Yet there is hope,
there must be,
for in the hold still grow the sapling
of the blessed realm,
this whisper of light
in a storm of darkness,
surely she will reach shore and root
and grow again
in remembrance
of what was lost.

I really like "this whisper of light / in a storm of darkness" as a metaphorical description of the sapling of the White Tree!
