Fanwork Notes

Written for the Manwe's Mailbag challenge, using the graphic and poem (by maglor_my_beloved) below as the prompt:

Winter has come, my Love,

In crystal lakes and silent frozen forests,

In crackling fire and candlelight,

In falling snow and icy air,

And the cinnamon-sweet smell of tea.

Come, my Love,

I yearn for your warmth.

collage of wintry images: snowy landscapes, a fire, a lantern, a cardinal on a branch, and hot drinks.

What a beautiful response to a lovely prompt!

I started off slightly on the wrong track, imagining that Sauron was already invading, but then realized this was before and so we get some charming glimpses of life in Ost-in-Edhil when all was well, and then that very warm (even heated!) ending!

I also liked the bird at the beginning.

An utterly delightful treat of a read! This is beautiful. I particularly love the image of Celeborn hunched in a snow fort pounding passers-by with snowballs! And Celebrian! Oh, I want to play with her too.

And this: "Stars pour across the sky above him, deep and deeper into the darkness. He swims with them, towards her, sinking into the night." is just *chef's kiss*.
