Back in Time by Lyra
Fanwork Notes
I really didn't plan to share this one before it was finished, but alas, the challenge deadline has come and it isn't finished yet. So the lineart will have to do as a placeholder. I do hope I'll manage to colour it eventually (and within a reasonable time frame)!

Back in Time - Lineart
This was the preliminary lineart, published because I wanted to get the stamp for the challenge. I'm leaving it here because I figure the development from lineart-with-prewash to finished painting is interesting.
Chapter End Notes
Fun fact: The original idea was to depict the DeLorean as having run into - and run over - either Melkor or Ungoliant. But then I figured that this would a) alter the story too much and b) not really be plausible. I mean, the whole scenario isn't plausible, but a small and fairly flimsy car doing any significant damage to an entire Ainu would have broken the suspension of disbelief beyond repair. Probably.
Back in Time - full colour version
Will Fëanor be able to repair the DeLorean? Will the intrepid trio get away from Valinor before it takes its toll on their mortal bodies? Will their visit have unforeseen consequences for the space-time continuum? And will Doc Brown be able to convince Fëanor not to use the time machine to prevent his father's second wedding?
Who knows! The good thing about fanart is that you don't need to write the whole story!
Chapter End Notes
Now in glorious watercolour!
Another fun fact: The hill of Ezellohar is blatantly based on the motte at Oxford Castle. My version, that is. Don't know if that aligns with Tolkien's vision, but then, I wouldn't be surprised either.
