Those Merry Young Folk by Flora-lass

Fanwork Notes

This is a feelgood song about older people wanting to give younger people a good time, and taking delight in their joy. It started out with just the title, which is a phrase used by Legolas to describe Merry and Pippin, but it includes various prompts from the 'Midwinter' and 'Eat, Drink and be Merry' boards.

It's inspired by the 'Apple Tree Wassail', which my choir used to use as a warm-up, in terms of rhyming and the tune I imagine it sung to.

This was delightful! I listened to the original song that was your inspiration to get the tune, and it was fun to hear the music and read your words at the same time. It has a hobbity feel, but I want to imagine it being sung in Eregion during wintertime. “From snowball fight to candlelight” is a lovely line.
