Chapter 1

Read Chapter 1

Morgoth's Crown

Pressing, O pressing
That ill fitting crown
Rushed, pushed
Soft iron round

Set, beset
Pounded with might
Cool, cruel
A prison for light

Stolen, swollen
Long fingers scold
Burning, yearning
Never to hold

Bright, alight
Three lamps a-glow
Enlightened, frightened
Hidden from show

Captured, enraptured
Daunted by eyes
Famed, reclaimed
One light dies

Stirred, words
Speak now of war
Spears, tears
The united withdraw

A star, from afar
The Great Ones annoyed
Beat him, de-feet him
Alone in the void

You seem to be switching genres? You were experimenting with prose mixed with verse and now here is a poem (although you don't seem to have actually labelled it as poetry)! I think the form works very well. The description of the forging of the iron crown and Morgoth's pain and longing is telling.

Telling?  Clever!  No I am not switching genres as such, or abandoning that which I have started to forge elsewhere; however, the self imposed limitations of purely dialogue were/are proving a bit of a pain when expanding on any given idea or story thread.  Therefore, rather than grapple with this and get nowhere I've just diverted my gaze for a bit.  I am pleased my little poem worked OK...

Thanks for keeping in touch, CiH.
