Fanwork Notes
Title: Can Heart Do That Too?
Author: Eärillë
Number: I18
Challenges:
1. Emotions: Grief
2. Landscape: Hill
3. Textures: Splintery
Summary:
They were a pair of Half-Elven twins, indeed, but Elros had always been more Mannish than his younger half. And in Secondborn blood, everything did burn quicker, brighter, keener – including grief and vengeance.
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: first draft, vivid dark imagination of a child
Characters: Elrond, Elros
Genres: Character Study, Hurt/Comfort, Tragedy
Place: Beleriand: Himring
Timeline: First Age: after the sacking of the Havens of Sirion
Word Count (in MS Word): 825
Notes:
Elros is older by a few minutes in this story. Also, both are 10 years old; in Secondborn term, they are comparable to five-year-olds.
The story is darker than any other in Rey-verse relating to the same point in the timeline. If you found little children thinking of detailed murder very offencive, you might want to abandon reading this story now. (Last warning.) The author did not find anything vaguely interesting in it either, but she did not have other ideas to exploit. As for why persisting: children do have vivid memories of trauma and emotions, although not when it comes to deeper concepts; fitting for these children and this timeline, sadly.
