Galadriel Learns a Lesson

Alone she sat there staring,
Upon the forest floor,
Where rugged road of roses,
Betrayed not a single thorn.
No briers brooked with bruises,
Would snatch from her the trove,
A bundle of bright flowers,
Caught from breathless grove.
Anon she came the morrow,
Battered bearing much,
A load of bread and baskets,
Culled from bustled lunch,
And on she hummed delighted,
Humbled in her pose,
Raptured in the silence,
Dreaming of her own.
But all the bundled flowers,
Cut from vine and stem,
Had withered brown and broken,
And fallen flat and dead.
