Written for the September 2014 challenge at lotr_community, for the prompt "celebrate" and the element: The late afternoon was bright and peaceful. The flowers glowed red and golden: snap-dragons and sun-flowers, and nasturtiums trailing all over the turf walls and peeping in at the round windows. (The Fellowship of the Ring, "A Long-Expected Party")
As required by the challenge, the ficlet is 144 words long in honor of Bilbo and Frodo's birthday.
