Flight to Doriath
Read Flight to Doriath
A legend he was, a hero of lore
Elwë who travelled to light
In the years since we strayed
From his guiding hand
We never forgot his name.
And now as we walk
Under shading trees
Guided by Elwë’s kin
We wonder how tall the trees have grown
Untouched by fire and war.
The lady, they tell us,
Our guides in the woods,
Will welcome us into her arms
And their lord
He will keep us safe.
Weary we stumble
Through glen and wood,
On moss and on grass
We will sleep for a while
Laying our troubles to rest.
We fled our home
When the enemy came,
With fire and wolf and death
Crossing mountains and rivers and plains
Never ceasing our journey for long.
He stands as tall, as a proud oak
This lord over forest and glen
His journey to light
Has come to a halt
And this was the home he had made.
We bend our heads
We bend our knees
Our proud unfettered race
Fealty sworn in oaths of blood
And we are now
Like them.

Ooohhh, lovely! I like how you have portrayed the harsh journey of the Nando and contrasting it with the wonder of Doriath. And this was particularly wonderful as a character-trait of the green-elves:
We bend our heads
We bend our knees
Our proud unfettered race

Thank you and apologies forthe late reply. I can imagine that the Nandor, after having chosen to stay independant from the other that travelled towards Vainor may have found it rather difficult to become part of the SIndar of Doriath.
