New Challenge: Potluck Bingo
Sit down to a delicious selection of prompts served on bingo boards, created by the SWG community.
A Stories100 drabble, the prompt being 'children'. Set in a Fourth Age in which virtually every character ever mentioned in the Silmarillion has returned to Middle-earth.
Curufin, recently returned to Middle-earth after several ages in the Halls of Mandos but still at his manipulative best, has vowed to reconcile with his son Celebrimbor.
"You had no gift that outlived you--what could you teach me? Your only legacy was treachery."
His son's words burned. Curufin looked away, his expression softening with memory. "I remember how impossibly small and vulnerable you looked as I first held you. Your mother placed you in my arms, her face alight. She had but met you, yet already she adored you." He smiled. "While my first hope was that you outgrew that ghastly pinkish hue. And that your hair would darken." His face hardened as he turned to Celebrimbor. "For better or for worse, you remain my masterpiece."
It, er, may help to know that in this world, Celebrimbor looks like Weta's Daniel Falconer, hence Curufin's comment about hoping his hair would become darker. (Blondes make Fëanor a bit twitchy. :D)
