On alien shores...
Read On alien shores...
Again I stand on milk-white sands
but these lacks the crystal brilliance
of the land we left.
The sea behind me shines a clear azur
a far cry from the midnight darkness
of the western sea.
This land is different, shattered, torn
by wars long lost and lands long shifted,
what I knew is gone.
I came ashore, alone, unaided
on a ship with neither sail nor oar
manned by only me
On alien shores with death behind me,
a scholar turned warrior, an actor
with no part to play

You've captured Glorfindel's uncertainty and melancholy very well and beautifully. This is a wonderful poem. Thank you very much for sharing :)

Thank you for reading :)
I am glad you enjoyed it. I liked trying to capture the alienation that i imagine he must have felt on his return, everything had changed so much from the middle-earth he left..
