Chapter 1
Many thanks to pandemonium_213 for character names!
Read Chapter 1
White gold sparks scattered through the air. Enchanted, he took a firmer grip on the rocks and struck them together once more.
Gilya was right, the stars also lived in the rocks. Akâron smiled.
At his feet, one spark found a dry leaf. A wisp of smoke attracted his attention, and he bent to examine it. The first pale flickers of flame showed at the edge of spreading black ash. Intrigued, he found another leaf and held it to the flame. And so, piece by piece, he fed this strange, new thing and wondered.
Hesitantly, he reached to touch it.

This elvish "Quest for Fire" is a wonderful gem that looks at two primitive elves of the "Pleistocene."
Gilya was right, the stars also lived in the rocks.
That line...the stars also lived in rocks...is perfection: primeval but very elvish.
Then Akâron reaches out to touch the flame and we have another implied -- and painful -- discovery there.
Well done, Moreth!

Thank you! And also for those names, they fit perfectly :D

I couldn't resist!

Short and sweet, perfect for the prompt. Is he a Noldo?
Re: (2) Comment by whitewave for Touching the Stars [Ch 1]
Thank you!
Is he a Noldo?
I think he must be... something about the way he pokes his finger in the fire...

Ooooohhh, cool! (Well, not the best word choices on my part, but still ;)). I love the idea. Very well done, too! Thanks a lot for sharing. :D
Re: (3) Comment by Robinka for Touching the Stars [Ch 1]
Thanks!
The discovery of fire would be, as you said, so cool! I couldn't resist writing about it ;P
(4) Comment by Angelica for Touching the Stars [Ch 1]
the stars also lived in the rocks
What a lovely way of putting this so simple action! And it's all so visual: feeding the fire with dry leaves, the black ash spreading. Very nice drabble.
Re: (4) Comment by Angelica for Touching the Stars [Ch 1]
Thank you! Fire - and the lighting thereof - is a very visual act to me. I'm glad that came across :D
