I sit on a park bench at lunchtime, eating bread with cheese. This terrace garden is my favourite spot. The gilded roof of the House of the Mírdain is visible from here. Sparrows gather around me. Their ancestors came here after the Elves. I always have crumbs for them.
Smoke rises from the chimney. Soon, it is time for me to return to my workshop. We build aqueducts now.
I have taught sparrows to eat from my hand, and they teach their fledglings. They fear me not.
