      they burned:
        hallowéd - 
    so we were told
            once.


Chapter End Notes

I promise the use of archaic three-syllable 'hallowéd' is not a sneaky cheat to get the form right; this pronunciation is still used in many high/religious contexts here in Britain, e.g. when the Lord's Prayer is said.  As Himring said on the DW post, the associations of that pronunciation seemed to fit the subject.
