Come Back To the Valley by Himring

Come Back To the Valley

Oh, where was I going, why so late returning?

In the Hall of Fire, the logs are still burning.

By the bridge in welcome Lord Elrond is waiting.

His guests' needs are met; no hunger needs sating.

Way above the guests' laughter, above the fine dining,

in the sky perhaps Gil-Estel is shining.

In quiet corners the scholars are reading,

the noise of the world about them receding.

I will listen and lose myself in the singing,

dream that somewhere, perhaps, a white bird is winging.

I will hear the sounds of the Loudwater rushing

and see the falls from the cliff tops gushing.

Oh friends, come with me, why do we tarry?

Finally,

let us go home to the Valley.
