Elrond sighed. He’s heard those words a good many times over the years. They’ve rarely presaged anything good. Far more often, they’ve been the prelude to lethal foolishness.

It needs only a glance at his two most trusted advisors remaining, Erestor and Gildor, to see they are of the same opinion. (Possibly more so. They’re older and saw more of the foolishness.)
