Menneen Talven Lumia "Snows of Winter Past" by Anérea
Fanwork Notes
Written and illustrated for the Hidden Figures challenge prompt "Hiril" and the Finnish Idiomatic challenge prompt Menneen Talven Lumia, which translates literally as "snows of a winter past". The idiom utilises the metaphorical significance of snow in Finnish culture to serve as a poignant reminder that time moves relentlessly forward, leaving behind remnants of past joys and sorrows.

Hiril is Beren's sister. She appeared on the family tree but nothing else is known about her. Here, I imagine she and few others manage to escape the devastation of the Dagor Bragollach and start making their way south in the hope of finding sanctuary.
