Tolkien Meta Week Starts December 8!
Join us December 8-14, here and on Tumblr, as we share our thoughts, musings, rants, and headcanons about all aspects of Tolkien's world.
This is a collection of true drabbles completed for the 'Four Words' drabble bingo card.
Responses to the Tengwar Challenge in which first letters spell out the name of a tengwa: 1) Early Encounter (Nerdanel, Indis); 2) Numenorean Lullaby (Almarian, Aldarion); 3) Tink-Tink (Telchar); 4) Such lamps as once shone in Khazad-dum (Celebrimbor).
Fics written for the "Tengwar" challenge.
For the Tengwar prompt challenge.
All 36 prompts plus bonus chapter
Stone could tell stories, her father had said, balancing her upon his knee, and stories she spun at his side in his workshop—stories strange and marvelous and beautiful.
Or, Nerdanel and Mahtan through the years.
Nerdanel crafts her first sculpture of strange but beautiful shape.
Maedhros is one of the last of his family to return to life, welcomed joyfully by his brothers.
Now that Fingolfin has his wife back, is he still going to welcome him in his bed -- and should Maedhros even ask?
The home of my insta-drabbling pieces!
(and the odd drabble of undetermined origin)
In which Nerdanel tries to sneak some cookies and takes a small tumble. Luckily, Papa is there to help!
In this series you will find all stories - be it short works and novel(la's) - connected to my Maglor novel series Bard Rising (work title, I probably will come up with something better).
A modern AU centering around the house of finwë: who they are how they grow, and in the end, how they love. Mostly Russingon centric, but definitely involving other characters pretty liberally, especially the other feanorians.
We know Celebrimbor canonically worked together with Narvi; whether he ever watched his grandmother's father Mahtan at work, Tolkien does not tell us.
It was my idea that Mahtan and Narvi might have something in common, in his eyes...
Why doesn't Nerdanel have a mother?
This grew a little based on my Rise Above Prompt :o
Nerdanel gets accepted as a student of Aulë's... ;)
Of artistry, women's bodies, and loss.

Week after week, she worked at it, chisel in hand. Her hands were worn and bruised, the skin dry and cracked with stone dust, her nails broken. Her boots and leggings were covered in a thick paste of slurry, and even her tunic and other clothes were frankly unclean. Her hair was stuffed carelessly into a rough cap, from which it escaped in ragged ends.

Anairë visits the house of Mahtan to see the sights of Tirion. Nerdanel is enchanted.
Basically a story of Fëanor and Nerdanel meeting and beginning to fall for one another. But, secondarily, a story of Mahtan's household and his relationship with his apprentices, featuring his wife also.
Hero’s Journey Challenge – May-June 2017 – submitting this one to meet the deadline, although I would very much like to expand and continue the story. It should have been much longer, but I met all of the required prompts. I've enjoyed working in this world I have begun to build. I love the characters and the backstory I created, seventy percent of which I am not able to use in this short story--due to lack of time and organizational skills(!! we won't talk about chronic writers' block). I hope readers can enjoy it as a stand-alone, but I definitely will return! I am (maddeningly perhaps) leaving my full cast at the end of the story as a teaser.
Many thanks to IgnobleBard for his careful Beta and putting up with a formidable amount of b.s. and dysfunctionality!
In which the sons of Feanor watch funny cat videos on the Palantir

Finrod is inspired to make a ring.
Author note: I recently did a series of 100-word drabbles about Maedhros (No Flame Burns Forever). It was a good exercise so I thought I would try a similar idea with Fëanor as the central character. I have been reluctant to utilize him as a character in my works, as I am somewhat intimidated when I think about writing him. These short glimpses into his life gave me a better sense of how I think of him in my head canon and made me more comfortable with his character in general. So here is a series of 100-word (occasionally more than 100 words!) drabbles from the point of view of Fëanor.
Young Fëanor is working in his masters forge when he gets an unexpexted visitor, with a very naughty idea. Now how is he to prevent Mahtan from discovering that his daughter loved to play with the apprentice's...hammer.
Of the history of the Elves at Cuiviénen and the development of the the three tribes, of the family of Elwë and the discovery of Oromë, of how Indis received her name and Ingwë earned his, and of the honor duel between Imin and Ingwë to decide the leadership of the Minyar and the future of the Eldar.
Eärendil has gone sailing again--this time through the skies--and Elwing is left to find a place for herself in Valinor, while the Valar prepare for war.
It seems likely that a Maia of Aulë would have been on friendly terms with Mahtan's household. Most of the time.
Curumo and four generations of one family.
Update: Final chapter, "The Spike." Saruman sees Celebrimbor, and possibly wishes he hadn't.
