The choices of Elrond and Elros (and later Elrond's children) is one of those heart-aching topics that I can never resist reading about. This piece is a lovely and poignant addition to the genre. "Imagine me happy"--I had one of those heart-squeezy moments here! And then again for Elrond's doubt. And the dying candle is such a sad but perfect image given the subject matter.

Although I've written about Elros and Elros's choice before from a different angle, this prompt was a little outside my comfort zone. I was hoping that wasn't making itself felt too much.
