Fanwork Notes

I just like the idea of their being friends and like, somebody had to keep trying to drag Thranduil back into the world of the living. This is maybe like 1-2 years after the queen's death? I'm also not set on a name for her yet; the one I chose here is just made up of sounds I thought were pretty pushed together; it has no basis in any Elven language. I may retire it if I find something better.

This is both so sad and so sweet. I can just picture a very cute slumbering Baby Legolas on his shoulder. And thank goodness Thranduil has him to care for, I'm sure it aided his healing immensely.

"Elrond wondered why it was they all seemed destined for such tragedy. Was there anywhere in Arda where it was not so?"

I don't think there is anywhere it isn't so at some point in time, but there are also always the times stretching in between the tragedies.  I guess if you live that long you're inevitably going to experience more of both grief and joy.

A lovely glimpse into the companionship between these two.

Thank you! I like to imagine these two had at least a casual friendship, being a couple of the only Elven lords left (and headcanoning Thranduil as Doriathrim...) And I do think having Legolas helped and Elrond definitely leveraged that in the wake of Niwe's death to less-than-subtly persuade Thranduil not surrender to despair and fade.
