Oooh I love this!! Turgon's bitterness, Curufin's proud bearing - so well done!  I love giving Curufin a named work that is passed down!

I appreciated the detail of the Dwarves giving gifts as basically weregild, and both Turgon's reaction, and Curufin's counter-reaction.  They both seem to grudgingly accept they are kin, whether desired or not.  But I also like that Curufin's main motivation is the preservation of his work rather than any real desire to bestow it on Turgon.

Just so deliciously complex <3

(Not to change your mind, but I believe that the Celebrimbor said to be in Gondolin was not, at that time, Curufin's son, but I've reconciled that away as Celebrimbor following Gwindor to the Union (family pressures, you understand) and being gathered up with the last remnant of Fingon's armies who followed Turgon back to Gondolin in the aftermath of it, so that is at least one plausible way to get a Feanorian Celebrimbor into Gondolin.)

Thank you!  This idea came as a bit of a surprise to me, because neither Turgon nor Curufin are characters I generally connect with, but once I started thinking about the Elendilmir as potentially Curufin's work and why he might have given it to Turgon the story practicallt wrote itself.  And I thknk it's very likely Tolkien dwarves would have had a custom similar to weregild.
