Lovely pacing. It really works. 

Love this paragraph:

A grin like a sunbeam split Fingon’s face, and his eyes sparkled with amusement. “It’s worth a try,” he said, placing a hand on her stomach. Inside her, the baby continued to kick, and Fingon once again lowered his head towards Ianneth’s swollen belly. Softly, he began to sing.

Aww! I really felt for Ianneth in the first paragraphs - they keep you awake before you're born, and then they keep you awake AFTER they're born too! It was nice to see Fingon not just empathize, but come up with an idea to help Ianneth, too.
