Instadrabbling submission from February 17: "They disappeared like it was magic!", and chat had been discussing animals during the Fall of Númenor, so this came out of it.
"I was watching the bears dance, but they disappeared like it was magic! All the animals there! I saw it. Just gone!"
The messenger, a straw-haired girl, stood out of breath before the Queen of Númenor. The echoes of her breathing ricocheted in the silent hall.
"What is your name, child?" Tar-Míriel asked.
"Among the Elf-Friends it is Yávien," she replied, lifting her chin. Her eyes were green like grass, lit by a fire of defiance. Míriel recalled a vision - a sunset in an emptied orchard, shining through blades of grass, and a wave rising to swallow the light.
"And who chose you as messenger, that they disappeared as if by a Power's hand?"
"No one," Yávien replied. "My parents were forced onto the ships; I am alone."
A rumble shuddered through the hall. A crack raced through a field of lilies painted on the walls. Yávien was on her knees before the throne, now whimpering. "I only want to see the bears dance for us again."
"And you shall. Go to Elendil and tell him I ordered to take you with him. You shall see your bears again, but go with haste." A ring dropped into Yávien's hand. "Go."
