Such an interesting look at how this reunion could have gone, and you are absolutely right -- Maglor is not cut out to be king. With Celegorm's temperament the way it is, I can absolutely see it falling to Caranthir to keep things running from day to day. He may have a temper, but we know he's capable of being practical about things, given how Thargelion prospered under him. And your characterization of Fingolfin and his reaction to Fëanor's death was A+. This was a really excellent story.

Thank you! 100% agree about Caranthir--he may be temperamental but I feel like he does well with managing a bureaucratic day-to-day. He has an eye for details and organizing. I'm so glad to hear this! Fingolfin is one of my favs so I wanted to do him justice. He was prepared for a lot of things entering Middle-earth (especially re: Feanor) but somehow totally unprepared for Feanor being gone already. No matter how you view their relationship, Feanor is just one of those people who's larger than life, so I feel like processing his sudden absence would be difficult.

I read it seriously, feeling the pain and tension, until Curvo, in Curvo fashion, caused a commotion. Fair, it was caused by Aredhel and Finrod roaming around like sneaky but not subtle grey squirrels, but still. Curvo gotta Curvo
