Oof, creepy! I love how subtly you've incorporated hints of who these characters are (I didn't look at the info before reading but I was able to catch on, even with my pitiful knowledge of post-First Age lore). I can totally see how this corruption would take place and I feel for the speaker. 

That insidious promise of betterness that pervades so many things in life... what will you give up of yourself to have that promise.  Like the ring, promises of power and victory and overcoming, to be twisted and corrupted. Oof.  It's such an evil little thing, very fitting of Sauron in every way.
