Outright theft from Keiliss is this concept which she uses first in her novel Even Quicker than Doubt: "They had all been forbidden by Ereinion to ever use the expression ‘Balrog slayer,’ which he believed objectified the man and belittled great sacrifice." Thank you very much, Keiliss.

Summary:

This story is based upon a mystery element within my short story No Justice to Yourself. It stands alone, but it contains the revelation of Erestor's old boyfriend who had recently dumped him in that story. While it is a prequel of sorts to "No Justice to Yourself," it is a short story which may be understood on its own.

Ignoble Bard did even more than he usual does in his Beta of this story. He forced me to write an ending when I just wanted to stop. Thank you very much, my dear friend.

Thanks for reading. I am so glad you enjoyed it. This is a prequel to my short story No Justice to Yourself. But that is certainly not his happy ending story yet. I do have an idea for what comes after that. But not this month!

I love this Erestor (I know, I am that way with Laura and Alex also--shamelessly admiring of my own creatures!). I have to give him a happy ending!

Glorfindel comes off as well-intentioned but kind of a cad here - but aren't we all at some point in a relationship?

Thanks! That was exactly what I was hoping for with Glorfindel. I don't dislike him, but I can't admire him in this circumstances either. He honestly never intended to break Erestor's heart. But, of course, he did.

My first thought was, dear lord, I kind of hope poor Ecthelion (who knew nothing of this exchange or what went on) stays far, FAR away from Erestor!  But you know, I have a soft spot for Ecthelion (even when I mangle his name in my typing).

Erestor, I love you, and this is such a horrible thing to happen, but this sort of blindness leads us down the most hurtful roads, doesn't it?  Been there too.  Hated it.  Tried to hate the person, but darnit...I still can't.  Well, I can, but I still kind of don't.

Glorfindel needs to be thwapped upside his caddish head.  It's good for him, and I really do believe he needs it every now and then to keep from being ridiculous.  I've heard a lute upside the head does wonders for people like him. 

You always manage to put humour in what would be melodrama in any other writer's hands.  I really admire that!

Thank you so very much, Levade. I am so happy you could have fun with it. I have been enjoying torturing my version of Erestor throughout a few of my stories to date--unlucky in love. Some day, I will have to fix that. But meanwhile, I think he still has some mileage left before I let him settle down.

Oh dear! Not very honorable or noble of you Glorfindel! Treating poor Erestor like he's expendable.

It was actually great to read Glorfindel; the legendary warrior reborn, without his halo, without that shaft of golden light that follows him everywhere.

Erestor certainly deserves to find someone who actually deserves him.
