The arrival and departure of ships across the Great Sea carries mythic significance for the peoples of Middle-earth. The image of ships crossing out of and back into a mysterious West appears as well in Beowulf and is alluded to in Tolkien's tower analogy in his lecture "Beowulf: The Monsters and the Critics," where the tower allows those who climb it to observe the passage of the ships.

Ooo I really liked this - Melian & Thingol were so tender together, and I really like the idea of Melian's tapestries decorating Menegroth. And her power and her knowledge of the Song really came through - I can't quite describe it, it's subtle and undeniable and ethereal. Loved it!
This seem really fitting, as an idea, Melian's tapestry and the Music or as much of the music as even Melian's weaving can capture...
