On the Noldor, Exiled
Read On the Noldor, Exiled
Crown them with water-foam under the stars
Write their uprising with brushes of air
Who is the artist, this mem'ry of scars
Water far falling where once lands grew fair
Many the hands both blade and brush wielded
Chisel and mallet, light, music, and Song
Weapon and wonder, hopes and hearts shielded
By exile undaunted, in Ennor fared long
Mighty their deeds, the strength of the leaguer
Ceaseless the watch, yet joy rang also
In forest and fortress, till fell fire, eager
Ravaged their hopes, and tears brought them low
They are the makers, the deep-elves, the doomed
Over their striving, the Shadow e'er loomed
Chapter End Notes
The prompts I was given:
Prompt #1: Noir. Your character must enter a dark setting. Once you've let him/her/them set foot into the shadows, open the next prompt.
Prompt #2: The Whodunit. Something happens. No one knows why or who did it.
Prompt #3: Prime Suspects. A character is confronted with multiple possibilities.
Prompt #4: Hint Hint. A hint is dropped or missed or possibly picked up. Add something to your fanwork to do with a hint.
Prompt #5: Beyond the Call of Duty. A character goes above and beyond.
Prompt #6: Cold Trail. A character sets out somewhere that doesn't end up going much of anywhere at all.
Prompt #7: The Culprit. Fingers are pointed.

Wow, that is a lot of prompts in one relatively short poem!
I am sure the Noldor would very much approve of such clever craftsmanship in their name!

Thank you! I didn't start out thinking it would be a sonnet, but once I realized it could be (two lines per prompt) it became an additional challenge :-) and then it came together. I'm pleased with how it came out.
