Nerdanel hurried home, but there was a tree trunk shaped like an Elf, and she had to sketch it. Then she visited the workshop where the best clay was sold. Not far from home, she met Anairë; they talked. Someone asked her opinion on Fëanáro’s latest preoccupation – she told them to mind their own business.
Finally, at home, Nelyo came running.
“Emmë, it’s complete chaos! Tyelko has broken a vase and Curvo kicked Moryo and hurt his toe. Káno is sulking upstairs only because we asked him to shut up for a moment!”
“Sorry, Nelyo,” she sighed. “I was delayed.”
