Spear Dance (Iminye/Tatie)

From Elleth's Femslash February Prompt: sleep, warrior, circle, start (Marika Hackman - The Girl Who Fell To Earth)

Iminyë and Tatië faced each other across the clearing, torches falling on shimmering gold and black hair. The long spears in their hands were deadly, shining bright in their warrior-calloused hands. They circled one another, testing, prodding, waiting for the flinch that precipitated the starting strike. Iminyë rushed forward, blocking Tatië’s reflexive strike before pushing, her greater weight knocking Tatië to the ground. Iminyë laughed, delighted, but then shrieked as Tatië flipped her spear behind Iminyë’s knees, forcing her on her knees next to Tatië. “Hush,” Tatië admonished, then kissed her. “You’ll wake the sleeping birds with your raucous cries.”
