Fanwork Notes

This was written for Dawn Felagund for the 2016 MPTT Yule Exchange. Her prompt was, "Before the Darkening of Valinor, at least two of the Fëanorian brothers take a trip together somewhere in Aman. The story should focus on their relationship. You choose the brothers, their reason for traveling, and the destination!

Many thanks to Elleth for the beta! I use Quenya names for Maglor and Maedhros, respectively Makalaurë and Nelyo.

I really loved this and I'm glad you chose Nelyo and Makalaurë--best two for deep conversations.

its interesting to think of them discussing the coming of the Elves to Valinor and their thoughts on the lands left behind. Little did they know how familiar they would become with those very lands.

Their talk of Morgoth was chilling.

I also liked how you wove in stories of fun and amusing things they did--such good sibling interaction and it breaks my heart to think of them so young and innocent.

I just want to say again how much I love this story and how grateful I am to you for writing it for me. It's exactly what I had in mind and the kind of story I love to read, where the story is less in the plot and more in the relationship between the characters and what that relationship implies.

I didn't say on lotr_community, but it strikes me as fitting and totally in-character that M&M worry more about the humiliation of an accidental death than anything! Ah, that Feanorian pride! I love that detail.
