Oh, wonderful! I have sometimes been frustrated with Melian's part in the Lay of Leithian - she clearly disapproves of many of Thingol's decisions, but clearly doesn't try to stop him except by dispensing counsel, probably due to the Valar's non-interference policy but it's still annoying - anyway, so I really liked that you made her complicit in Lúthien's escape here. (She would have known. She must have known. And it's nice to see her actively show her support for Lúthien, rather than just keeping silent.) In short, this was such a satisfying read!
