Written for the Legendarium Ladies April prompt: If They Were Women

Though to be honest I've headcanoned Elemmírë as a woman for so long, I often forget it isn't explicitly canon.

This was lovely--sad, but lovely.

Your description of the Darkening and the arrival of Unlight was very nicely done. I've often imagined it in similar terms--as an entity, a thing of malice and substance that inspires senseless terror--but your details about the smell and taste of it were a great addition. *shudders*

But what I love most is the quiet strength of Elemmire (whom I've also thought of as a woman for so long that it'd be weird to read dude!Elemmire at this point! :). Of her commitment to the simple task of remembering and singing, of her courage when she is given leave to flee without being thought less of, of the implied connection between her song and the healing of the earth and the new beginning that the Sun and Moon represent.

I loved it. ^_^
