This is something of a footnote in my fic series 'The Elvenking’, and the half in non-italics will make its way into a future chapter of this story. You don't need to read it (I would love if you did!), but all you need to know is that in that story’s chronology, Thranduil was born in Doriath, spent his early years as a marchwarden and soldier, and is about 200 years old at the time of the Sack of Menegroth.
