"Katabasis" means "Descent" in Greek, and especially "descent to hell", as myths about descents to hell were always labelled with that name.

A chilling continuation ... you handle the horror elements very well. (I write horror for my "real writing" and see too few Silmfics that take advantage of this genre.) I'm always partial to any stories that take place in the halls of Mandos, and your idea of them is fascinating. This installment of your Broideress series had me on the edge of my seat!
