B2MeM 2011, 3/1, Seduction: Write a story where seduction plays a central role.  Celeborn/Elu Thingol. Celeborn accepts that he has lost Elu to Melian the Maia. This may be read as existing in the same universe as my story Will Overruled by Fate wherein Celeborn admits to Haldir that he had loved Elu Thingol in his youth.

Well, your SSP worked!  I am thoroughly embarrassed to say that I completely missed this last year.  Likely it got buried amongst the plethora of fics offered to get those precious passport stamps!  Anyway...

Really liked the darker tone of this little story.  You've captured a primeval tone, very fitting to the time and place.  The descriptions of Melian are cool - the pale cat eyes and the whispers that she is a witch, a shape-shifter.  Excellent!  Celeborn is so young here, but you know, it's his mother I like the best.  She has the air of a tribal shamaness, re: the visions in the fire, and her prophecy is laden with Celeborn's "doom."  

Thanks for reading! I thought his mother walked away with the little piece myself!

++She has the air of a tribal shamaness++ That was exactly what I hoped. Something must have happened to her between this period and when we meet Celeborn at Doriath. I figure something in his life also must have readied him to be willing to take on the likes of Galadriel.
