Yes, pretty much! It certainly seems to me that Melian's departure from M-e after Thingol's death is non-optional on a metaphysical level, but in that Ainuran way that can't really be explained or grasped by us incarnates. Despite being unable to grasp it, this was my attempt at imagining it might it from the Ainuran POV.
