Carnistir scowls as Findaráto’s hand shoots into the air a half second before his own. Such a teacher’s pet. Always raising his hand and talking so fast it’s as if the words are trying to flee from his mouth before he can bury them in those following. As he watches, Findaráto finishes speaking and beams at the tutor’s praise for his answer. And such a know-it-all. He’ll probably tell Arafinwë how he beat me at answering the question. And of course Father will hear about it and have Káno tutor me until discussions of music theory take over my dreams.
