Table of Contents
This story was written for the Around the Fire challenge, for the prompt offered by Silver Trails: "I would like a conversation between Caranthir and Maedhros, in Valinor, once they both leave the Halls of Mandos. Please don't write them at odds with each other."
Like all of my stories, this story assumes that Caranthir is exceptionally gifted in mindspeak and often perceives the temperaments and moods of others as colors.
The story also uses Quenya names, which translate as follows:
Nelyo/Maitimo = Maedhros
Carnistir = Caranthir
Findaráto = Finrod
Findekáno = Fingon
This story includes allusions to canonical suicide. I think they are too brief to warrant a warning, but if you're bothered by this element of The Silmarillion, tread with care.
