Deane about his upcoming Mereth Aderthad paper "Love, Grief, and Alliterative Verse in Tolkien’s Legendarium" and his work with alliterative verse, Tolkien, and alliterative verse about Tolkien.

A Thousand Feet of Snow Over Your Heart
From the SWG discord instadrabbling session on January 18, 2025. On Helcaraxë and Beleriand, Fingon grieves the betrayal of Losgar.
The absence of heat is a paradox that Findekáno cannot shut away. The fireshine across the sea reaches its flames up into the clouds, so immense that perhaps the entirety of the hither lands is burning in Fëanáro's wrath. He thinks he should feel more than only his heart growing hot.
Crossing the Ice, Findekáno carries the heat of the burning with him, thinking of how Maitimo must have betrayed him. When he cannot bear that any longer, he lets the cold in, piling it like snow over his heart. Still it melts, reaching his eyes as salt and water.
